Sydney Sweeney Starring in the Netflix Gundam Movie?

It’s been announced that a Gundam movie starring Sydney Sweeney just finished production and will be distributed on Netflix.

Some of you may know that I am a big Gundam fan, so I’m partly excited for this, but also naturally a little weary of this because.

Hollywood is notorious for butchering anime adaptations.

Do I need to remind people of the live-action Dragon Ball movie? It was so bad that the script writer issued a public apology to Akira Toriyama. (Source).

Sydney Sweeney seems like an odd casting choice for me and it made me wonder who she would play in the story, or what the story would be in general.

I looked up the overview of the movie and this is what Google says:

“The upcoming live-action Gundam movie follows rival mech pilots on opposite sides of a decades-longwar between Earth and its former space colonies as shifting allegiances pull them into a high-stakes race across the stars”

Not gonna lie, that overview does not excite me. Is it a racing movie? and a love story? Not sure about this….

I was hoping it would take place in the OG Mobile Suit Gundam universe with appearances from Zeon, Char, and so many other characters and mobile suits.

Despite my instincts I’m going to be keeping an open mind, and my fingers crossed that it’s a cool movie.
